Funding

Poolside closed a $500M Series B round led by Bain Capital Ventures. The new round values the startup at $3 billion. Poolside is a startup building the next generation of AI tooling for software engineering and is competing against other notable entrants such as Magic and Codeium. Impulse Space, a space startup, secured a $150M Series B round led by Founders Fund. Impulse Space develops orbital maneuvering vehicles for last-mile cargo delivery and flew it’s first mission in the past year, with a Mira vehicle carrying and deploying a small satellite in a flight. CEO and CTO of Impulse Space Thomas Mueller referred to it as “probably the most successful orbital transfer vehicle debut in history.” It seems there will be a lot of opportunities and a lot of funding flowing into the space industry over the next few years. The Tor Project Merges with TailsOS
Privacy advocates will be interested to know that The Tor Project has merged with Tails, a linux based portable amnesic OS focussed on privacy. As detailed in a blog post shared on The Tor Project’s website, The merge comes as a move to pool resources and better serve a global community to counter the threat of global mass surveillance, a war on privacy, and attempts to stifle end-to-end encryption. Security

HR Departments the Targets of Malware Pretending to be Job Applicants
HR departments are the targets of a sneaky new form of malware that is being downloaded under the guise of fake job applications. A spear-fishing email campaign has been targeting recruiters with a JavaScript backdoor called More_eggs. More_eggs, sold as malware-as-a-service (MaaS) is software that comes with capabilities to siphon credentials, including those related to online bank accounts, email accounts, and IT administrator accounts. Essentially, recruiters download what they presume is a resume from a interested job applicant, however, it’s actually malware that has now infected their systems. Read the full story here.

Felipe is a senior software engineer based in Sao Paulo, Brazil. He has a BSc in Computer Science and he has over 12 years of professional experience. Felipe’s primary technical stack is React / Python (Django) and Java. He also has a bit of NodeJS experience. Felipe performed very well in our technical screening process and would be a great addition to a team in need of a react / python engineer.

Jefferson is an intermediate / senior NodeJS developer with some DevOps experience. Jefferson is based in Brazil and has 10 years of professional experience. Most recently, Jefferson has been working with NodeJS, TypeScript and Nest.JS over the last 5 years. Jefferson impressed our technical screening team with his problem solving abilities and ability to communicate thought processes clearly.
